Report: Uber may test new courier delivery service in Russia

MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Uber, a U.S. online taxi hailing service, is designing a courier delivery service called UberRUSH as a test name, business daily Vedomosti reported on Friday, quoting head of the company’s local branch Dmitry Izmailov.

“We’re now at a stage of creating a business model for this service, and we see a huge potential. Let’s say there is a small flower shop. It cannot make deliveries with internal resources. Small business of such a type can win a lot from partnership with Uber as it’ll be able to expand the number of clients significantly,” Izmailov said.

Uber is choosing several cities on the most advanced markets to test the idea, as it used to do with UberEATS, a food delivery service.

“We’ll strive for adding Russian cities to the list of pilot cities, because the earlier we start testing, the sooner we’ll put it in operation,” the executive said.
